We are excited to introduce Barb Edwards, the newest addition to the CCVOAD team. She will take on the role of Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Coordinator.

Reflecting on the lessons learned in recent years, it is clear that successful disaster management requires a dedication to excellence and a genuine desire to assist those in need by consistently making the right choices.
Barb brings a wealth of experience in disaster response and recovery, having played a crucial role in providing aid during numerous large-scale disasters. Her leadership was instrumental in delivering assistance to an entire region in Mozambique, where she led the development and execution of long-term recovery plans for immediate relief, reconstruction, and sustainable growth. In her previous role, Barb effectively managed budgets, grant reporting, and a diverse team of more than 100 local and international volunteers, among other duties.
Barb’s impressive qualifications as a certified Athletic Trainer and Clinical Coordinator make her a valuable asset in working with individuals of all ages, from children to Olympic athletes. With a Master of Education in Exercise Science and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, Barb’s expertise is extensive. She is a licensed ATC and chiropractor assistant and holds a certification with FEMA as a Community Emergency Response Team Member (CERT). Apart from her professional accomplishments, Barb finds joy in serving her Church community administratively and appreciating the beauty of the outdoors.
When asked about her motivation for this work, Barb quickly responds that after years of working with an internationally based NGO in various countries providing humanitarian aid, she was given the chance to participate in several disaster relief efforts that deeply impacted her. She loved the opportunity to provide solutions amid chaos, loss, and devastation.
Barb believes building strong partnerships between community-based organizations, businesses, and disaster response agencies is crucial for the future of our community. This collaboration allows us to understand each other’s roles and work together effectively to respond to our community’s needs. Educating and empowering our partners and community through preparedness measures such as training and information sharing is essential. Additionally, establishing connections with state and national-based agencies will help us become a productive part of Oregon’s larger puzzle.
