Federal Disaster Recovery Loans Available for December 2025 Storm Survivors
Low-interest federal recovery loans are now available for individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations impacted by the severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides that occurred December 15–21, 2025.
Residents, businesses, and nonprofits in eligible disaster areas may apply for financial assistance through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) under Disaster Declaration #21629 & #21630. SBA disaster loans can help cover uninsured losses and provide affordable financing to support long-term recovery efforts.
Who Can Apply?
Homeowners & Renters
- Loans to repair or replace disaster-damaged homes and personal property
- Up to $500,000 for real estate and up to $100,000 for personal belongings
- Interest rates as low as 2.875% for homeowners without credit available elsewhere
Businesses of All Sizes
- Loans up to $2 million for physical damage to buildings, equipment, inventory, and other business assets
- Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) available to help cover operating expenses during recovery
- Interest rates as low as 4.0% for businesses without credit available elsewhere
Nonprofit Organizations
- Eligible for both physical damage loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)
- Interest rate of 3.625% for both loan types
Key Deadlines
- Physical Damage Loan Applications: August 3, 2026
- Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Applications: March 4, 2027
Eligible Recovery Costs
- Repair or replacement of damaged buildings, equipment, vehicles, inventory, and personal property
- Mitigation improvements, such as retaining walls, sump pumps, and other protective measures, up to 20% of total physical damage costs
- In some cases, refinancing of existing mortgages when a property sustained major disaster-related damage
