August 2026: Wildfire Update & Partner Meeting

Wildfire Season Update

Wildfire activity has intensified across Oregon this month, with several incidents affecting communities in and around Clackamas County. The Grasshopper Fire, located in eastern Clackamas County, prompted an activation of the County Emergency Operations Center in early August due to rapid fire growth and shifting weather conditions.

According to the Oregon Fires Dashboard, the Grasshopper Fire has continued to burn in steep terrain with dry fuels and periodic wind-driven spread. Fire crews have made steady progress on containment lines, and the incident has remained under active monitoring due to smoke impacts, intermittent closures, and concerns for residents in rural and forest-adjacent areas. While no large-scale evacuations have been required in Clackamas County, the fire has contributed to degraded air quality, increased community anxiety, and several access challenges for residents and responders.

For current statewide wildfire information, visit the Oregon Wildfire Response & Recovery site.

If you or someone you serve is experiencing unmet needs related to wildfire impacts, please report them to 211 or the Oregon Wildfire Hotline. You may also reach out directly to CCVOAD for emerging needs so we can help coordinate appropriate support.
